Alcohol may have been a factor, Oakhurst CHP says
COARSEGOLD — A two-car collision on State Route 41 at the intersection of Road 200 seriously injured both drivers, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to authorities, a 36-year-old woman was driving westbound on Road 200 about 7:15 p.m. Saturday in a late model Mercedes. She reportedly failed to stop for a red light and struck a car headed northbound on SR 41, according to officers.
The woman, whose name is not being released, sustained serious head and neck injuries and was found unconscious and pinned in her car. She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center via Skylife helicopter.
The Mercedes struck the northbound Hyundai Elantra almost head on, seriously injuring the driver, a Coarsegold woman in her 60s. The woman sustained a broken femur and badly fractured lower left leg in the crash. A male passenger sustained minor cuts and bruises...
