Two arrested in weekend carjacking chase

The Madera Police Department booked two two men — one a wanted felon — into Madera County Jail Monday after they allegedly robbed a man and stole his car over the weekend.

Manuel Rosales, 18, and Francisco Cruz, 23, were charged with multiple felonies and other crimes including reckless evasion of a police officer, carjacking, and strong-arm robbery.

It was Sunday night, police said, that the two approached an unidentified victim on the 700 block of South C Street, pointed a gun at him, and put a knife to his neck.

The two stole the victim’s cell phone, the money he had in his pockets, and sped off in his car, said interim sergeant Brian Esteves...
