Two arrested for thefts after chase

Two men were arrested Wednesday afternoon on theft charges after leading deputies on a chase through a hay field and vineyard, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Department.

Steven Lovelady, 53, and 51-year-old Anthony Rodriguez, both of Madera, had been alluding authorities for weeks and were wanted in connection with a number of thefts, including copper wire, sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said. According to reports, Lovelady was on parole for arson and Rodriguez for narcotics.

The pursuit started on Cronin Street in Parksdale near Avenue 13.
