The Chukchansi Indian Tribal Council has announced the recipients of this year’s Community Grant Program, and ten organizations from Madera landed the lion’s share of the money.

Local non-profit groups will receive $402,000 of the $1,000,000 granted through the Chukchansi’s annual donations to various communities throughout Madera County.

Topping the list from Madera was Madera’s Parks and Community Services Department with $80,000 for soccer field lighting at Sunrise Rotary Park. Second place in Madera went to the Holy Family Table Soup Kitchen with $60,000 for capital improvements. These were followed by Madera Community Hospital, which was granted $40,000 for a Toshiba Aplio Ultrasound Machine.

Also on the receiving end of Chukchansi generosity were the Madera County Sheriff’s Office ($38,000), Madera County Food bank ($36,000), and American Legion Madera Post 11 ($28,000)...
