Top Liberty grad on her way to Pepperdine

As parents, teachers, family members and friends watch Liberty’s graduation today, they may hear the familiar clang of medallions hitting each other — medallions the graduates earned from valedictorian status or by earning California Scholarship Federation life membership.

Leading the 17 valedictorian clangs will be Chloe Doyle, the top student from the 140-member Liberty High School Class of 2013.

If you walked around Liberty’s campus, chances are you would walk right by Doyle — or she’d be the one stopping you to strike up a conversation. You wouldn’t know you were talking to the top student of the Class of 2013 — the same student who earned a 4.8 GPA for the fall semester of her senior year.

“The accomplishment that I worked hardest for and wanted the most was the highest GPA,” she said. “I have friends in class who don’t know I’m No. 1. I just don’t say it. I’m trying to stay humble, but it’s hard. They announce my name at different things. I try real hard not to show if off.”...
