The streets of central Madera came to life in a parade to celebrate the city’s past and living history. More than 2,000 people flocked to downtown early to find space for their lawn chairs or simply stand on the sidewalk. Before them, almost 60 entries of various kinds, including equestrians, motorcyclists and school bands, marched a little more than a mile on Yosemite Avenue, from Flume Street to Gateway Drive.
Leading the Old Timers parade were Grand Marshals John and Virginia Lee.
The Old Timers Day Parade, put on by the Madera Kiwanis Club in partnership with the Madera Downtown Association, is one of the city’s oldest established annual events.
