Thousands celebrate love during wine weekend

Thousands of people visited 10 Madera County wineries where chocolate and wine were the food and drink of choice over the weekend.

Winemakers and employees were pleased with the turnout Saturday, which many said surpassed other years on the first day. Wineries were open both Saturday and Sunday for the event.

“I’m really surprised. When I got here I couldn’t find a parking spot and it has been nonstop since then. People like our wines and the directions our wines are going in,” said Eric Natali, the winemaker at San Joaquin Wine Co.

“People are really happy and they said they will be back for the next wine trail and they want to see us in Madera and Fresno stores and it’s our job to get there,” he said. He estimated about 2,000 people visited the winery...
