Attorney and deputy county counsel Miranda Neal announced late last week that she has joined the race for Madera County District Attorney in the June primary elections.

A licensed attorney since 1991, Neal has spent the last eight years as Madera County’s deputy counsel with a focus on prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases.

Neal said she wanted to bring change to the office of Madera County District Attorney led by Michael Keitz, which she contended has not lived up to the scrutiny of outside review.

“It would be clear to anyone reviewing the last few years of Grand Jury reports and news articles that the office of the District Attorney requires a new leader,” Neal said. “I am the best qualified candidate for the office and have a proven track record working within the county and managing a huge case load … I am in this to win.” ...
