Thieves steal tools from school shed

The sheriff’s department is investigating a burglary at Wasuma Elementary School in Ahwahnee after thieves broke into an outdoor tool shed and stole several items.

Stolen items included blowers, a weed eater, tools, a gallon gas container, a cordless drill and an arc welder, Madera County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Erica Stuart said Tuesday.

Stuart said the items are valued at $3,050. A second outdoor metal shed was vandalized.

According to reports, both sheds were locked securely on April 5 before spring break. When the school’s head of maintenance returned about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, he discovered the padlock attached to the tool shed cut, the room ransacked, and its contents missing, Stuart said...
