Boys, 15, charged as adults in gang shooting of 16-year-old
The 15-year-old boys charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy during a gang shooting last month were shuffled to three different courtrooms in Madera Superior Court on Wednesday before a trial judge was assigned and a trial date set.
Jose Vega and Nicolas Salazar, dressed in brown Tshirts and orange sweatpants and shackled at the ankles and wrists, remained stoic as their defense attorneys entered not guilty pleas on their behalf to the first degree murder charges in the death of Jesus Espinoza.
Espinoza was shot four times in the stomach on April 18 outside the Carl’s Jr. restaurant on Madera Avenue.
