Teacher promised grant

Roseanne Samper, a teacher at Hazel M. Bailey Elementary in Firebaugh, has been promised a $500 grant by the Association of American Educators Foundation to purchase resources for her third grade reading classroom.

“They will hear an old tale, ‘The Rooster and the Fox,’ and then read their own fables and break down the recognized elements in independent practice,” explained Samper. “Funds will be used for providing leveled readers for independent practice, subscriptions to websites providing extension activities, and supplies for creating graphic organizers and visuals for the project.”

Samper will receive the grant as a reimbursement after she has bought the materials.

“AAEF commends the dedication that Ms. Samper has demonstrated in securing funding for her classroom,” said AAEF Chairman Gary Beckner. “These scholarships and grants are an investment in empowering teachers as professionals across the country.” ...
