Suspicious hay fire at 3V Feed

A suspicious fire destroyed at least 4,500 bales of oat hay worth around $70,000, at 3V Feed and Garden Supply on State Route 145, just east of Tozer Avenue in north Madera, according to the store’s owner.

The owner and operator, Jaswinder Kang said the fire happened Tuesday night, and the three separate large stacks of hay stored in the plowed field were completely destroyed.

The fire burned intensely in the large mounds of smoldering hay into Wednesday afternoon, with firefighters monitoring the site for the possible spread of blowing embers.

“I got a call on my cell phone from a customer about 11:15 (p.m.) saying the hay was engulfed (in flames) and he had already called the fire department. It was three big stacks, two were tarped and one was opened — which we were selling from,” Kang said...
