Maderans call project a ‘boondoggle'
The Madera County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted to oppose the proposed California high-speed rail system and rescind its earlier support of the project.
Four of the five supervisors approved the resolution, with Supervisor Max Rodriguez voting against it.
Board chairman Ronn Dominici, who said he has been against the project “since the beginning,” further cemented his opposition Tuesday.
“I feel more confident about my position today than at any point in the past,” Dominici said. “I find it absolutely imperative that Madera County oppose high-speed rail.” ...
