Student returns, adds style to school

Former Webster Elementary School student Evan Walsh remembers one thing about the artwork inside the school’s cafeteria and multipurpose room when he was a Wolverine.

“It was kind of boring,” Walsh said with a smile. “I honestly didn’t think much of it. It just said ‘Webster Wolverines’ upon the wall. I mean every school has something boring like that.”

Walsh, a 25-year-old graphic design student at Fresno State, was commissioned by then-principal Felipe Piedra last December to give the gym inside the Madera Ranchos school some much-needed flair.

Walsh stood atop a high-rise lift, diligently painting away on cracked, blocked lettering as he discussed the piece...
