Four heavily traveled sections of Madera roads will see traffic delays in the near future as part of an overall city of Madera paving improvement project.

Drivers who use the four sections — I Street from approximately 7th Street to 4th Street near St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pecan Avenue from Highway 145 to Stadium Road, North Granada Drive from Sunset to the Fresno River near Riverview Drive, and Golden State Boulevard from Avenue 13 to Madera Community Hospital — will face delays as the roads are paved one side at a time.

The grinding phase of construction has started on the I Street and Pecan Avenue to Highway 145 sections, where the old road surfaces are worn down. That section, which will start to be repaved some time next week, is expected to be complete by May 10.

The Granada Drive and Golden State Boulevard sections will begin May 6 and finish May 24, barring unforeseen weather delays...
