A husband and wife were arrested this week after authorities found methamphetamine and buckets of counterfeit money inside their home, Madera County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Erica Stuart said.

Gloria Chavez and her husband Raymond, both 54 of Madera, were booked Wednesday on felony charges including 59 counts of counterfeiting and possession of narcotics.

Raymond Chavez was arrested a day earlier along with 50-year-old Javier Ornelas when the two were stopped by police inside a stolen car.

Chavez claimed Ornelas sold him the car, but it had already been reported stolen from Fresno when the two were stopped, Stuart said. Both men bailed out of jail...
