The construction company charged with renovating parts of Highway 99 met with Madera residents to speak about the effects of its plans and to answer questions before beginning the second stage of the project next month.
About 15 people attended a community outreach meeting at City Hall on Thursday organized by Caltrans and Granite Construction Co., who are working on the Madera 99 Rehabilitation Design-Build Project set to be finished next year.
The project will fix about 3.6 miles of State Route 99 from the south Madera Avenue overcrossing to the Avenue 16 overcrossing using a design-build method, which is cheaper, faster and logistically easier, said Justin Wood, project engineer and spokesman for Granite.
