Officials: County, cities recovering from recession

“The sky is not falling in Madera.” Madera Mayor Brett Frazier summed up the State of the County luncheon on Wednesday with that statement.

The event, sponsored by the Madera County Economic Development Commission and Comcast, was a gathering of county, city and business officials to discuss the local economy and its future.

Madera and Chowchilla mayors and Madera County Supervisor Ronn Dominici spoke at the event.

All three were optimistic about the future of the county’s economy, despite recent layoffs, budget cuts, and each department “doing more with less.” ...
