Shots fired over marijuana grow

Two men opened fire on a Chowchilla mobile home after the owner caught them trying to steal marijuana plants from his backyard grow, according to authorities.

The resident, 25-year-old Miguel Angel Hueso of Colima, Mexico, fired back at the men early Sunday from inside his mobile home on Avenue 19 1/2, according to the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team.

Hueso was arrested on charges of cultivating and possessing marijuana for sale and is being held on an immigration hold.

According to reports, Hueso awoke at 3 a.m. to the sounds of two men inside his backyard garden. When he shouted at the trespassers to leave, they shot at him, at which point he returned fire...
