Sheriffs search for stolen horses

Now that an alleged horse thief has turned herself in, Madera County Sheriff’s ag detectives are asking the public for help in finding two horses that went missing last summer.

Summer Tex, 27, of Madera, turned herself in Friday morning after the sheriff’s office released her name and photo to local media following a month-long investigation.

Tex, a brand inspector for the California Department of Food and Agriculture, is accused of felony grand theft of two quarter horses, said sheriff spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

Tex allegedly took ownership of two older horses last summer with a promise to place both in Pasture Buddy programs affiliated with Harris Ranch in Fresno County, Stuart said…
