Most people looking at the vacant, 28,000-square-foot warehouse near the Madera Municipal Airport would see nothing but an empty building.

But not architect John H. Smith.

Smith is the man behind making over the warehouse on Falcon Drive into a new home for the Madera County Sheriff’s Office. Construction work is expected to begin this summer.
