Sheriff issues county ‘stranger’ alert

Sheriff John Anderson issued words of warning to all Madera County citizens this week after an unidentified man gained entry to an elderly couple’s home and stole their prescription medications.

Early Wednesday evening, Anderson said the young man — a white male in his late teens or early 20s — knocked on the couple’s door at the Wild Wood Mobile Home Park on State Route 41 and asked if he could use their restroom.

Calling himself “Steve,” the slim-build suspect left the home shortly after going into the restroom but not before he made off with the contents of the couple’s medicine cabinet.

Witnesses said a white pickup truck with a white sticker on the driver’s side windshield was parked in front of the home when the crime occurred...
