Shelter cuts pet adoption fees in half

Black Friday and Cyber Monday may have passed, but seasonal sales continue. The Madera County animal shelter has announced half off all dog and cat adoptions until the 23rd of December.

“It’s just $50 to adopt any puppy or dog, and only $30 to adopt any kitten or cat,” according to Kirsten Gross, director of Madera County animal services.

The reduced fees still include up-to-date vaccinations and spay and neutering services, as well as a free microchip compliments of the volunteer group The Friends of The Madera Animal Shelter, Gross said.

The shelter is flooded with 800 to 900 unwanted dogs and cats each month,Gross said, and despite staff and volunteer efforts only 200 to 300 find homes or go to rescue groups...
