Shades of Grey draws standing room crowd

Maderans honor local band's 20th anniversary

Trumpet player Bill Fisher, the leader for local band Shades of Grey for the past 18 years, signaled the musicians to begin. With the first notes the standing room only crowd at the Frank Bergon Senior Center took to the dance floor.

However, unlike other Friday nights the band has performed at the center, this night was special.

After their first number Saturday night, Chamber of Commerce CEO Debbie Bray introduced Mayor Brett Frazier. Bray and Frazier presented the band with an award honoring its 20 years of performing in Madera and throughout the Valley.

“In good times and bad times the thing that always brings us through is music, and to have the Shades of Grey create 20 years of smiles with their music is a wonderful thing,” said Frazier...
