Senior citizens from the Ranchos in Madera are planning an antique doll and collectibles show for Sept. 6 to raise funds for their community center.

The first event of its kind for the center will be held at the Ranchos/Hills Seniors Center at 37330 Berkshire Drive, Madera from 8 a.m. to noon.

Doll enthusiasts attending the event will be able to purchase antique dolls on display. Some of the dolls were even made in the early 1950s. There will be about 12 different types of collectibles besides the dolls, such as those by Avon, elephant and frog figurines, tea cups and others. Bake sales, a treasure house and a garden sale are also planned.

The money raised will be used to maintain the center facility, said member Caroline Reeves, who owns a boutique shop beside the senior center. The center does not receive any form of government funding...
