A semi truck heading north on State Route 99 overturned Thursday morning about 7:45 a.m., blocking both lanes of the westbound Highway 152 connector ramp and detouring traffic for several hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver, whose identity was not released, sustained minor injuries in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved, CHP officials said.
Witnesses told officers they had to swerve and skid as the truck went over and ground to a stop right in front of them, sparks flying.
CHP Sgt. Michael Donnelly said the driver apparently took the ramp at an unsafe speed, and was unable to maintain his lane. The Freightliner semi was hauling a large, sealed export shipping container of fruit from Selma to the port of Oakland.
