Balderas is apparent choice of 10,000-student Ocean View district

Madera Unified School District Superintendent Gustavo Balderas has confirmed reports that he has been selected as the finalist in a Southern California school district’s search for a new superintendent.

While stopping short of announcing that he has accepted an offer from Ocean View School District in Huntington Beach, Balderas did acknowledge that district had recruited him.

Rumors of Balderas’ pending departure from Madera have been running rife throughout the district offices since Thursday. Sources close to the Tribune said on the condition of anonymity that a community delegation from Ocean View visited Madera Unified on Thursday to conduct an on-site interview with Balderas and his staff.
