One local elementary school’s teachers and administrators, aiming to educate students about different cultures, plan to host a multicultural program at 6 tonight in the cafeteria of Millview Elementary School, 1609 Clinton St.

Included in the lineup of performers is a singer, Dwight Shepherd, who is set to audition for The Voice — a reality television singing competition — in the upcoming season. A group of people representing the indigenous traditions of Oaxaca, a Mexican state, will dance. Former educator Chuck DeFina, representing Italy, will play the accordion as well. Two Chukchansi Indian dancers, one who is currently a Millview student, will also perform. Millview students will sing.

“Millview is trying to include all cultures and have more parents involved with their children’s learning,” said Yolanda Williams, the fourth grade teacher organizing the event.

A backdrop with a Christmas theme will be set up for children to take photos for $1.50. For information, call the school at 674-8509.
