Scholarship to honor retired leader of college district

The State Center Community College Foundation has established an annual scholarship in honor of Dr. Terry Kershaw, former executive director of Madera Community College Center.

The foundation began raising money for the Dr. Terry Kershaw Scholarship a couple of months before his retirement in June, said executive director Gurdeep He’Bert.

“We wanted to honor Terry for all the work he has done for the district. Our goal was to get the scholarship endowed, which takes a minimum of $10,000,” she said. “We were able to raise $11,000 in just a couple of months.”

Now that the scholarship is endowed, the foundation will be able to award one $500 scholarship annually indefinitely in Kershaw’s honor, He’Bert said...
