The Central San Joaquin Valley Nursing Leadership Coalition presented Printess Schlist, RN at Madera Community Hospital, with the honor of RN of the Year.
As mother-baby clinical coordinator at the hospital, Schlist was recognized for helping mothers and babies and for the support she provides to parents experiencing a perinatal loss.
“Mrs. Schlist is not only a nationally certified mother- baby nurse and certified Resolve Through Sharing (RTS) bereavement coordinator,” said the hospital’s nomination letter of Schlist for the award. “She is an incredibly compassionate human being with the extraordinary ability to relate to parents, allowing their grief to be recognized and heard.
“With each loss, Mrs. Schlist sits with parents for as long as they want, answering questions, listening and recognizing their grief. She makes sure each parent is presented with their baby, properly dressed, to create a positive lasting memory.”
