Scavenger hunt highlights Night at the Library

Sixteen families gathered for dinner and a scavenger hunt during after-hours at the Madera County Library.

More than 60 people ate pizza and then looked for clues throughout the dark building to solve a puzzle. Working with their families, participants had an hour to play several games to receive clues from characters in costume. They had to solve the mystery phrase, “Catch your dreams at the library: Reach for the stars.”

The “Night at the Library” was part of the Summer Reading Program put on by the group Friends of the Madera County Library at the main branch.

“We’re trying to promote not only the Summer Reading Program but also family unity and, of course, the library,” said county librarian Ellen Mester. “It’s an excellent way to get the community involved with the library in a fun atmosphere and let people know that the library is a place for everyone and there’s always something going on.” ...
