In a spin from their usual service work, members of the Madera Rotary Club took the day to serve themselves a taste of sky high fun. Nearly 30 people, including members and their families, gathered at Madera Parachute Center to watch six Rotarians descend from tandem skydives and one accelerated free fall.
The Madera Rotary Skydive Day on Saturday was a fellowship coordinated by Rotarian Mike Giersch. Members, their families and friends, received discounted prices for training and skydiving activities.
“This is to help the members of the club do fun things together as opposed to just doing service projects all the time,” said Giersch.
“We do community and international service, we donate to charities and do fundraisers and people get tired of that after a while. They want to do just fun stuff as Rotarians and so this is one of them.” ...
