Residents to celebrate Earth Day early

Locals are set to celebrate Earth Day early this year. The worldwide annual celebration to show support for environmental protection is usually observed on April 22, which falls on Monday this year, but a nonprofit organization has slated a local event for Sunday.

MadLove: A Community Earth Day Celebration, organized by Madera Community Impact Network, is planned from noon to 3 p.m.

Madera Community Impact Network, a project of Madera Coalition for Community Justice, aims to get residents to provide input about the city’s planning and advocate for the best environmental and economic interests of the county.

Set to take place in the Madera Community Garden, in the intersection of East 4th and North Lake streets, MadLove will include music, performances, food, raffles, art, activities and organizations giving out information...
