The Madera Rescue Mission will hold its annual fund-raising dinner starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at Valley West Christian Center, 101 W. Adell St. Tickets are $30 each.
“We are planning an inspiring and fulfilling evening, as well as a silent auction and delicious dinner,” said the mission’s program director, Mike Unger. “All proceeds will go toward the support and sustaining of our programs,” he continued, “however, we are almost sold out so time is of the essence if you plan to attend.”
The Madera Rescue Mission was started in 1984 as a soup kitchen. It has grown into a facility that serves up to 200 people daily — men, women and families of all sizes.
A needy person who has nowhere else to go may be admitted to the Rescue Mission, and once admitted will be provided with a shower, clean clothing, necessary toiletries, food, and faith-based counseling services, along with guidance to redirect life choices...
