Renovation under way: McDonald’s to reopen in two months

The renovation of the McDonald’s restaurant at the northeast corner of the Save Mart shopping center on Howard Road is under way and should be completed by September, officials say.

The old McDonald’s building was demolished and the construction of the new 3,500-square-foot restaurant began at the end of June, said Nam Le, an estimator for Northern California-based contractor Eleven Western Builders, Inc.

The 15,000-square-foot site will be reconfigured to increase the efficiency of the restaurant’s drive-thru operation and provide for safer exiting onto Howard Road.

The Madera Planning Commission approved the remodel in January at the same time that it approved the construction of a new CVS Pharmacy in the same area...
