The 2013 American Cancer Society’s Madera Relay For Life preparations officially kicked-off with a Chamber of Commerce mixer hosted by Central Valley Community Bank. More than 100 locals joined together Tuesday evening to begin this year’s fund-raising efforts.
A buffet was provided by Madera Hospital Catering and refreshments were available from the chamber. Nearly 100 raffle prizes and baskets created by teams, individuals and businesses were given away.
During the evening, teams and individuals could quickly register for the relay at computers. Businesses, organizations, schools, churches, families and individuals are encouraged to get a team together. Relay chairwoman Charlotte Brewer observed the crowd at the mixer and said things were looking good with nearly 40 teams already registered.
