Redding man suspect in drug bust

More than six pounds of crystal methamphetamine was found by the California Highway Patrol during a traffic stop on northbound State Route 99, near Avenue 24.

Jose Pahua Martinez, 28, of Redding, was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with drug possession and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Martinez, a Mexican national was also placed on immigration hold.

Martinez also may face Federal drug charges, due to the amount of meth found, according to officers.

CHP K9 officer L. Pratt said Martinez was initially stopped because of his tinted front windows and other vehicle violations, but he began acting nervously when Pratt approached the car. Martinez refused to allow a search of the vehicle but since he was an unlicensed driver, the car was impounded. The drugs were found during the inventory of the vehicle, Pratt said...
