RDA endures ‘organizational colonoscopy’

California appears to think that the redevelopment agencies in the state are hiding money to keep it from being “swept” into the coffers in Sacramento. That is why teams of auditors have fanned out across the state performing what Jim Taubert, Madera County Redevelopment Agency CEO, is calling an “organizational colonoscopy.”

According to Taubert, for the past three weeks a team of three auditors from the state controller’s office has been going through the records of the Madera Redevelopment Agency to see “where we have all of these millions of dollars buried.”

Taubert’s response is, “It is just not there.”

While auditors from the controller’s office were examining the RDA books, the State Department of Finance was conducting its own audit, and two private auditing firms were crunching the numbers as well, leaving Taubert with very little time to do anything else...
