The annual search for Madera County’s Senior Farmer is over. The honor has been bestowed on Ray W. Pool by the Madera District Chamber of Commerce, according to its president/CEO Debi Bray.
When apprised of his selection, the demure Pool immediately began to redirect the praise coming his way to others in the agricultural community, giving them credit for teaching him to farm.
“I learned how to farm from other farmers; I rode on their coattails,” Pool said.
