A fter growing up in the Italian restaurant industry, Pietro “Pete” Cercone took a break from food service, but then decided he wanted to be his own boss again.
“My family owned an Italian restaurant for 15 years — Cercone’s Italian Restaurant,” Cercone said. “I worked there. My wife (Maria) and I had thought about going back into the restaurant business. We wanted to take control of our own life.”
Maria’s family owned A&M Pizza for 22 years in the same location as the couple’s current restaurant.
“We want to keep our restaurant more of a family atmosphere because we are in the (Madera) Ranchos,” Cercone said. “We wanted to keep our pricing for a family of four to have an affordable dinner. We’re not fancy. We wanted good food and a lot of food for a good price.” ...
