A two-month long closure of local ramps along State Route 99 is planned to safely continue construction during stage four of the Madera 99 Rehabilitation Design-Build Project, the California Department of Transportation announced this week.

Up to 20-minute traffic delays are expected around the four SR 99 ramps Caltrans is planning to close from March 18 until May 18. The department encourages drivers to use alternate routes.

Caltrans and Granite Construction Company are set to reconstruct outside lanes and shoulders on both directions of SR 99 from the Fresno River Bridge to the South Gateway Drive overcrossing.

Closures will be at the State Route 145 on-ramp to southbound SR 99, the northbound SR 99 off-ramp to SR 145, the northbound SR 99 H Street on-ramp and the southbound SR 99 I Street off-ramp also known as Central Madera exit. Caltrans will close the ramps at 7 p.m. March 18 and re-open them at 6 a.m. May 18, provided the weather or unforeseen circumstances do not change the schedule...
