Rain total still low after storm

Madera’s seasonal rain total is still less than 60 percent of normal, and the small storm that passed through over the weekend didn’t help much, weathermen say.

Just .16 of an inch of rain fell in Madera from Saturday through Monday morning. The storm brought .47 inches of rain to Chowchilla and .26 to Fresno.

“Madera didn’t get as much (rain) as the rest of the Valley and the foothills,” said Gary Sanger, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Hanford.

The rain brought Madera’s seasonal rainfall total to 5.96 inches and a bit more rain is expected this week, Sanger said...
