The LoanMart Madera Speedway opens for racing today and a young racer who earned his first podium finish in Madera last year is looking to take the checkered flag on his way to big NASCAR dreams.
Trevor Huddleston, 16, is one driver in a team of three for High Point Racing that will compete in the Speedway’s opening night.
Huddleston said that he had been racing since he was 12 years old and that being behind the wheel of a full-size “S2” racer, which on the Madera Speedway — a smaller track compared to other similar raceways — can approach speeds just more than 100 mph was an experience unlike any other.
“I feel more comfortable in the car than outside it,” Huddleston said with a smile. “I love being out there and putting on a show.” ...
