Questionable MUSD vote, OK’d by lawyers, increased developers fees

Did Madera Unified School District trustees raise residential development fees Tuesday — or didn’t they?

According to a legal opinion from district lawyers delivered Wednesday, the answer is yes.

The fees will go from $5.97 per square foot to $6.04 per square foot.

Lawyers had to decide the question because the vote taken by the board Tuesday evening on a motion by Board Clerk Michael Salvador did not specifically mention the fees, but only to adopt a School Facility Needs Analysis and Justification Study, which is required by government code in order for fees to be raised...
