An undercover prostitution sting at a Madera hotel led to the arrests of eight Central Valley residents, from felons to a schoolteacher, earlier this week. Madera police arrested the eight men on suspicion of soliciting sex online.

The arrests are part of a larger investigation by the Madera Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) into the website Myredbook.com, which Sgt. Gino Chiaramonte said “doesn’t hide that it’s all about prostitution.”

“There’s full nudity, girls talk about what they’ll offer, it really leaves nothing to the imagination,” Chiaramonte said. “They openly talk about prostitution acts on their account.”

Chiaramonte said Wednesday’s sting was simple; an undercover female officer made a fake Myredbook account and agreed to meet up with the eight men — dubbed “Johns,” or those seeking sexual acts in the world of prostitution — at a hotel in Madera...
