CVS to build, McDonald's to remodel
Construction activity in the neighborhood of Howard Road and Rotan Avenue will likely commence this year as two businesses move ahead with plans to build a new building and improve an older one.
The Madera Planning Commission has given the green light to two conditional use permits for the projects.
One will permit CVS Pharmacy to build a new 16,500-square-foot building on a vacant lot between Rotan and Pine Street. Part of the site is occupied by a building that once housed Monty’s Liquor and Deli at Pine Street and Howard Road. The industrial spur of the Union Pacific Railroad runs along the east edge of the property. Lee’s Concrete occupies the land to the south of it.
The building will be built at the south end of the property, with the Monty’s Liquor building being razed and used for part of the parking lot, with access to Howard Road...
