A Madera resident and Chowchilla schoolteacher was unpleasantly surprised at work this week when she received a call from her son telling her their home was burglarized.
When the newly divorced Michelle Breedlove moved into her apartment at the Vista del Sol Gated Community, 2300 Riverview Drive, about a year ago, she expected a higher level of security because it was “in a supposedly good part of town.”
Breedlove said it appeared her locked door had been pried open with a crowbar on Tuesday.
“I just want to warn my neighbors so they won’t be victimized. I want people to know that locking their doors while they’re at work just isn’t enough. And I know that some people know that, but there are people like me who take it for granted and who don’t know because this has never happened to them,” she said...
