A beloved group of actors in Oakhurst is set to make an appearance in Madera to help a local club raise money for a garden.

The award-winning Grub Gulch Grannies from the Golden Chain Theatre in Oakhurst are set to perform Saturday in a benefit for the Madera County Master Gardeners at the Frank Bergon Senior Center, 238 S. D St., from 1 to 3 p.m.

“They’re going to do a cute act,” said Mary Lou Finley, the vice president of the board of directors for the theatre.

Finley said the Grub Gulch Grannies have been a popular group among audiences since the theatre opened nearly 50 years ago. They’ve won numerous acting awards, she said...
