A fter the success of last year’s Madera Pomegranate Celebration and Festival, the Madera Chamber of Commerce has announced the second festival will begin Oct. 27 and end with the festival Nov. 3.
“We’re looking forward to it to being bigger and better than last year,” said KC Pomering, event coordinator for the Pomegranate Celebration and Festival. “We are looking to have even more pomegranate food and booths with exciting stuff going on.”
Last year, the celebration had 20 events during the week and drew about 1,500 people to the festival at ApCal and visions are for more this season.
“We’re hoping to grow the event,” said Jarrod Lyman, director of public relations for the Yosemite Visitors Bureau and chairman of the Tourism Alliance committee of the Madera Chamber of Commerce. “Last year, it was a tremendous success. Our goal is to keep expanding every year. The whole idea of the celebration and festival is to showcase Madera and brand the community like the Gilroy garlic festival. A lot of people, even in Madera, don’t know the importance pomegranates play in Madera.” ...
