Organizers hope they’ll draw 5,000
It’s time for all things pomegranate in Madera.
As the nation’s top grower of the versatile fruit, Madera’s third-annual Pomegranate Festival at the Madera Municipal Airport from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday has ambitious goals to live up to the area’s pomegranate pride.
“The goal is to double attendance from last year,” said Jarrod Lyman, public relations director of the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau. “It’s a very aggressive goal but we all think it’s possible.”
The event — where parking and attendance are free — already has more than 20 additional vendors from last year’s festival, Lyman said, which represented an encouraging sign on the way to a goal of 5,000 attendees...
